More About NY OPERA CONSERVATORY: FREE August 2024 Concert Series – Four Performances - Croton Free Library

The Taconic Opera summer program for emerging opera singers, New York Opera Conservatory (NYOC), offers you an opportunity to hear the upcoming generation of professional singers as they gain valuable experience perfecting their craft. Established in 2018, the NYOC helps to fill an unmet need among singers to enhance their training with actual performance in lead roles.

Each event in the series listed below will have a different cast, making every performance completely unique from all the others - an all-opera version of America’s Got Talent! Each performance includes the complete opera and is semi-staged (costumes, props).

August Opera: Don Paquale – Donizetti
Donizetti, famous for his comedic opera buffa’s, weaves a story about an old bachelor named Don Pasquale who tries to trick his nephew Ernesto into marrying a young woman. Disliking Ernesto, he plans to disinherit him and then choose an heir of his liking. However, the young woman, Norina, and Pasquale's friend, Dr. Malatesta, have a plan to outsmart him. Guaranteed laughter. Sung in Italian.
